Bearly There - Past Updates...

09/25/02
Updates, we don't need no stinking updates...
So I haven't updated the rants in over a week... did you come here for the comic or the updates?  Oh... OK... sorry I haven't updated then... jeesh.

So, where are the bears, you ask...well, they're at the teddy bear picnic having a gay old time.  With tiny, little sandwiches and steaming pots of delicious Sleepy-Time tea.  oh, how they frolic!

Anyway, they'll be back once the strike negotiations have completed.  In the meantime, enjoy the splendiferous humor that is my comic and pray that the world returns to the deep-rooted moral values I continue to stand for.

A Message from the Pillsbury Crack-Whore...
Not really... just can't think of anything to say.  Blah blah blah.  I hope that inspired you to make a difference in the world.

Ta-Da-Freakin'-Da...
I think today's comic kind of says it all, don't you?  The only thing I can add is VOTE!  Vote now, vote tomorrow, make it a part of your daily routine!  Who's it hurting?  You'll make Jesus smile!

Drum Roll Please...
OK...  when I was at number 55 on the 150 Top Web Comics I promised you if you got me in to the top 10, I would have a big surprise for you.  Well, since then, I have dropped to number 61, so instead of a live appearance by a nude Britney Spears accompanied by Ricky Martin making a shocking announcement about his sexuality (well, maybe not that shocking), I have something else up my sleeve.  Check in tomorrow for the big announcement.  And for God's sake, vote... remember Florida 2000?  Nuff said.

A Day to Remember...
OK...  I debated whether or not to run a 9/11 memorial, and decided that although in some way it may be contributing to the media spectacle I'm sure this day will become, it is what I felt when I drew it.  I remember being stunned last year when this all came down and how close I felt to the people in my office and strangers on the street.  People who I had barely given a second thought too suddenly seemed all too important.  These are the people I would need to count on if something happened here in Southern California.  It seemed just as likely as it happened in New York... the closest terrorism has ever touched me.

A year later and I feel safe again.  nothing has happened to shake my security so I'm back to being blase about world terrorism.  But today I think of those who are still rebuilding from last year.  The families that are no longer together.  I am grateful for my family even more so because of their loss.  I even remember the pets who are still wondering where there master went to and curl up on old sweaters in closets, inhaling the still surviving scents and waiting for them to come home.  For all of them I remember.  For them I pray.

And for all of us, I hope it never again touches us as it did September 11, 2001.  Other cartoonists are running tribute strips today (and other cartoonists are trying to reap readership by making fun of the tragedy and draw readers just as car wrecks draw on-lookers... I recommend you avoid them).  To view the tribute strips related to Keenspace, click here...  and remember...

Happy Rash Hashanah!
Yes all you party people... today IS Rash Hashanah.  To celebrate, today's strip is set at a Rash Hashanah party.  Bet you didn't catch that at first, did ya'?  For those of you who need to do some last minute Rash shopping, check out the Shop-at-Home link...  there are sales-a-plenty.  Man, I love the holidays...

So anyway, I'm up to number 55 on the 150 Top Web Comics list!  Thanks to all of you and the list resetting at the beginning of the month!  If I make it in to the top 10, there will be a BIG surprise for everyone.  HUGE!  (And no, it does not involve nudity... yet)  Also, don't miss the FREE desktop set on the Shop-at-Home link.  What I won't do for you people.

On a personal note... I'm still unemployed.  Contrary to popular belief, my fabulous web-comic does not provide me the necessary income to run my harem... I mean household.  Keep me in your prayers as I continue to search for a company that can provide me with the life-style to which I've become accustomed.  And if you see any job openings for Mr. Fabulous, send them my way...

Ta-the-freakin'-dah!!!...
Thank You!!!  Bearly There is now number 100 in the 150 Top Web Comics!  We have cracked the top 100!!!  Woo-hoo!  Not bad for less than a month.  I see great things in our future... work with me folks, we're a team here!  Say it with me "WE'RE NOT LAST!  WE'RE NOT LAST!"

Other new of Bearly There interest.  We are now actually listed in Google... this means when people are done looking at Asian porn sites, they'll come here... so a big WELCOME to all you perverts who have surfed on over.  And we are now sponsored, so check the Shop at Home under links and help support the site.  I highly recommend all of the stores listed.  And that has nothing to do with the gun currently pointed at my head.

For those of you who've been away for a week or more, due to my loss of gainful employment, I've pretty much revamped the WHOLE site.  New colors, new graphics, new items.  Check out the interactive menu bar at the top of the page and take the grand tour.  I recommend starting with VOTE!!!  The view is spectacular...

Crappity-Crap-Crap...
Slow and steady wins the race...  Bearly There is now 116 in the 150 Top Web Comics!  That much closer to the top 100!  Thanks everybody... keep up the great work!

Well, I'm currently unemployed which is why the site has been revamped twenty something times this past week.  Gotta keep busy.  Downsizing sucks...  If anybody wants to hire me in SoCal, drop me a line.

What else... oh, just check out all the pages.  Use the nifty new menu-bar at the top of the screen to get around.  I've thrown in some additional artwork on a few pages, so it's like an Easter egg hunt.  Jesus would be proud.

Great Googley Moogley!
All-right! As of last check, I am number 138 in the 150 Top Web Comics, right behind one of my faves, Nick Firth's The Brass Monkey! Thank you to all of you who cared enough to vote me in to the top 150. Only a few more votes, and I break the 100. Let's do it people!

I have added a menu bar at the top of each page for easier navigation. Check out the speed in which you can find all the fabulous Bearly There stuff! It is truly amazing!

Also, check out my first attempt at Flash animation. It's the banner at the top of the home page. I do it all for you... please, no need to gush all over me. Just vote... often.

Bam! More flava'!
I got my first shout out! Nick Firth at The Brass Monkey mentioned me on the front page of his web-site. Hello to those of you who followed the link! Hopefully you know why I check that strip daily for updates. The man rocks!

Today marks the last day of my experiment in strip-form comics. Tomorrow I revert to my single panel style. I'm better at the quick gag than the running commentary. That's not to say I won't try it again... just no time soon.

And finally, a big thank you to those few of you who have voted for my comic by following the voting banners. There are now three... count 'em, three!... places to vote now. Vote at all three? What else do you have to do for the next couple of minutes? Vote everyday and see what difference it makes! Your blessings will be bountiful!

08/12/02 On a Roll...
All-righty-then!!! It all starts here! The comics I've posted on this site up until today have been to test the site, and today marks the start of my one and only attempt at a strip form comic. Hope you enjoy it and PLEASE VOTE FOR ME!!! You can vote everyday! So do it already, we'll still be here when you get back.

Thank you to Mark for being my site administrator and advertising guy. You are fabulous! And thank you to all my friends who believe I have talent. It's your belief that makes me believe. I love all of you!!!

I'VE DONE IT!!!
I have transferred from my AO-Hell website to KeenSpace, and boy are my arms tired! I'd like to give a big hug to everybody who is entering my new home. For those of you who've been to the old home, you'll be recognizing this month's comics from the old site. You may have seen them already, but I'm sharing with the rest of the class, so chill. You'll see new ones starting in September.

For those of you who are new, here is the comic description from my old site…
Bearly There is mainly a single panel observation of life as we know it through the eyes of various creatures, human and otherwise. The title comes from the fact that the character I most associate with is the bear... and anyone looking for subtext there is probably right. By the way, everything is copyrighted so if you duplicate, you need my permission which does not come cheaply... (ka-ching!)
Every once in a while I'll take a stab at an actual strip, but don't hold your breath. All comments are greatly appreciated and will be ignored when necessary. Thank you for your patronage (translate as "Send Money Now!").

Bearly There is hosted on Keenspace, a free webhosting and site automation service for webcomics.
